The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) measures the aptitude of candidates willing to join the Armed Forces in United States. Though ASVAB is a single test, it includes a series of scores to measure:

  • Your ability to enlist
  • The branch and occupation you are eligible for

Registering for the ASVAB

You can complete your registration procedure for the military entrance test either:

  • In your school
  • At the local Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS)
  • Base Educational Office

You can register for this test in your school. If you are in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade, you can discuss with your counselor who can complete the ASVAB registration formalities for the Career Exploration Program. The program will give you an idea about your preparedness for the test.

There are about 65 MEPS in the United States and Puerto Rico. If you are interested in joining the military services, you will need to contact a recruiter from the MEPS in your locality. In order to find your nearest MEPS or a recruiter, perform the following steps:

  1. Go to the website: http://www.todaysmilitary.com/
  2. Click Request More Info thereafter.

Note: You cannot enter an MEPS directly. You will require an approval from a recruiter to be able to enter and complete the registration process.

After locating the nearest MEPS, you must contact a military recruiter who can check whether you have fulfilled the basic requirements to enlist in the Armed Forces, such as age, nationality, qualifications, physical standards and so on. You will also need to have important documents such as a Driving License and Social Security number. The recruiter will also check whether you can be disqualified under any grounds, such as your medical history, any illnesses, any criminal record, substance abuse, and so on.

As part of the registration procedure of this test, you will be examined physically to check whether you can endure the severity of training for the Armed Forces. You will need to visit the MEPS for two days at least for all the processes to be complete. A part of this visit will be to take the test.

If you are already serving in the Armed Forces and want to appear for the ASVAB test again, you will need to contact your base educational office to know about the registration process for ASVAB.
