TOEFL Exam Structure

The TOEFL test has four sections in all. The sections include Listening, Structure, Reading and Writing. All the papers are not the same. Each student gets to work on different set of questions and answers. There can be additional questions sometimes. These additional questions are an add on to the scores and are used for research purpose.





The first section in the TOEFL test or the listening section consists of 30-50 questions and the time allotted for this section is 60 minutes. The structure section has about 25 questions with a time limit of 20 minutes. Likewise, the reading section is allotted 90 minutes for 60 questions. About 30 minutes are given for the essay section where the candidate is asked to write one essay. The total number of questions in the TOEFL test works out to be 135 questions in all and it take about 4 hours to complete the same.
