The Usefulness of the TEAS Test

As known popularly, the TEAS test is an exact predictor of candidate success in nursing programs. After measuring the candidates' skills and abilities accurately, the test scores paint a realistic picture of each individual candidate – his/her abilities, potentials, and any shortcomings. Based on this knowledge, nursing institutions and colleges can make their admission decisions. Many nursing colleges and other healthcare educational institutions in the US today, have made TEAS a mandatory requirement for nursing program applicants. For example, the Community College of Baltimore County ( and Roseman University ( insist the nursing TEAS test as an essential pre-requisite for some of their nursing programs. Though there can be different minimum TEAS score requirements based on the institutions, the TEAS remains a very critical step in the nursing program admission procedure of many of these colleges and institutions.

In addition, the nursing TEAS test opens up a window of improvement opportunities for each individual candidate. Based on the test scores, candidates themselves get to know their strongholds and weaknesses, if any, and can therefore, work towards improving themselves. Thus, the TEAS test ensures that though there can be individual negatives that may adversely affect the nursing studies, these are taken care of and remedied on time so as to not affect the academic progress of candidates.

Eventually, this test also ensures that only those candidates with the right potentials end up in the nursing profession and they, in this effort, are provided with the right kinds of educational opportunities. In other words, the nursing TEAS test is a tool essential for the prospects of the noble profession of nursing,, in addition to being beneficial for both the test administers and the test takers.
