How Often Can You Take The TEAS?
TEAS Reappearing Procedure
TEAS is ATI's nursing aptitude test. The scores are used by colleges to admit students to nursing courses offered by them. It is a test of one's basic skills in the following content areas: Reading Comprehension, English and Language Usage, Mathematics and Science. It tends to test the underlying skills of comprehension, English communication, mental agility and scientific reasoning. Some students perform well, while others might not perform well in it.
If you have not performed well, you have the option to reappear the test. The following sections provide more details regarding this.
How often can TEAS be taken?
The minimum time interval between two consecutive attempts should be 30 days. Hence, you cannot reappear for the test within a period of one month of your last attempt. In addition to this, each college has its own rules regarding reattempting. Colleges specify time periods called admission periods during which they allow students to reappear for examinations. Some colleges allow a student to reappear once during one admission period, while other colleges do not allow students to reappear for the test, even once, during a single admission period.
TEAS Reappearing Procedure
If you are not confident of performing well the first time, you might want to attempt the test again. If you prepare well, you will score well in the first attempt itself. However, you may always require information about retaking the test.
Appearing for TEAS for the 2nd or 3rd Time
The minimum time interval between your first and second attempt should be thirty days. Some colleges will allow you to appear in a single admission period, while others will allow you to appear only once in a single admission period.
The number of times you can appear after the second attempt will depend on the rules of the college you are appearing for. Some colleges specify a mandatory waiting period of two and a half months, before taking the test for a third time. After the third time, an individual will have to wait for almost two years to attempt TEAS once again. There may be some other universities which are not very particular about the time gap between consecutive appearances. They may set a deadline and ask you to appear for the test as often as you can, before the set deadline. However, officially, ATI has not really put a limit on the number of times you can appear for the exam.
For reappearing, you have to do the following:
- Intimate the testing center.
- Pay the re-registration fee.
- Fix up a date for reappearing for the test.
The fee paid for a single attempt is non-refundable, and you have to keep paying the fee every time you appear for the test.
Thus, it is for you to understand that one should ideally aim for passing TEAS with good score in a single attempt. The greater would be the number of times you appear for the test, the lower will be your chances of getting admission in a good nursing school, as not performing well in the first attempt will create a negative impression of you in the eyes of the college authorities. TEAS is a competitive examination and there are many people who will perform well in the very first attempt, and hence, pose competition for you with regard to college admissions. Hence, it is important for you to prepare well and perform well in it, in the first instance.
