SAT 2 Math Test- Comprehensive Information

The SAT Test is governed by the College Board. The SAT 2 is a set of over 20 subject tests and is used in the USA as a yardstick to assess college admission applications. The SAT 2 Math test allows tests takers to use calculators whilst appearing for their tests. However, having a calculator to your aid does not necessarily mean an easy test. It is a test which involves subject matter from Algebra, Geometry and Pre-calculus and trigonometry courses, so if you are familiar with these concepts it is only the applications of their principles that you have to work upon. The SAT 2 Math tests require you to use the prescribed methods of problem solving by application of the appropriate theories and hence you cannot go wrong with the method of solving questions. If you are not familiar with the mathematical concepts any operations covered in the SAT2 Math Level1 test, it will be difficult for you to directly opt for Level 2. All questions throughout the test, whether difficult or easy, receive a point for each correct answer. The score is then converted on a scaled measure ranging from 200-800 points. Test takers and colleges would be informed of the applicants score according to their instruction.

SAT 2 Math tests consist of a variety of subject chapters. These include Algebra, Three Dimensional Geometry, Coordinate Geometry, Basic Trigonometry. Tips for preparation and the test

  • Each SAT 2 Math test has 50 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) to be answered in a time span of one hour. Every correct answer receives one point and every wrong one deducts ΒΌ of a point from your score. Questions that are left blank are considered as a null score. Therefore, you are advised not to waste too much time on one particular question. Attempt everything you think you know and come back for the rest.

  • There are instructions on the use of calculators and the types that are not permitted. You should thoroughly read through the guidelines for the exam to avoid possible inconvenience. Calculators with a QWERTY keypad and those that have other methods of input apart from the conventional buttoned- calculator are also barred.

  • When you feel you have completed all the study matter for the SAT 2 Math test, use practice test papers to test if you are able to answer them well. Score your answers as they would be in the actual test. You will be able to judge what concepts and operations you need to work on and how you should manage to complete your test paper within an hour.

  • The College Board suggests that you should have studied Algebra for two years, Geometry for one year, and Precalculus or Trigonometry or both to be able to comfortably study and appear for the SAT 2 Math Level 2 test.
