SAT Tests Registration

Different Means of SAT Registration

SAT, developed by College Board, helps turn the students’ dreams of getting into U.S. educational institutions into reality. It is therefore vital that the students should identify the registration procedures and enrol themselves for the exam as early as possible. This article describes the SAT tests registration procedures.

SAT Test Registration Methods:

As per the official website http://professionals.collegeboard.com/testing/sat-reasoning/register, SAT tests registration can be done through mail, phone or online. Each of the registration procedures are described below:

  • Online Registration:

This is the simplest method for SAT tests registration. The registration is to be done at http://sat.collegeboard.org/register. First-time users should create an official College Board student account via this link. After signing in, the students can go ahead with the registration. As part of the online registration, students are instructed to perform a code search at http://sat.collegeboard.org/register/sat-code-searchand obtain the list of test centres, from which they can choose their nearest centre. With an instant confirmation on the test centre availability, the admission ticket is provided online along with provisions for corrections. Reprinting the admission ticket is also possible.

  • Mail Registration:

Paper registration is required under the following circumstances:

    • The registrant doesn’t have an email id
    • The registrant is willing to receive paper admission ticket
    • Candidate is younger than 13
    • Requesting Sunday testing for first time
    • Requesting to open a nearby test centre
    • If the chosen test centre is one among Benin, Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria and Togo
    • Registering through an SAT representative (Required in Kenya)
  • The admission tickets in these cases will be sent via mail and the payment is to be made by cheque or money order.

  • Phone Registration:

This is mainly for retaking the test. Phone registration is possible only for candidates with a previous registration in the system.

It is to be noted that a government-issued ID card or a valid passport with recent photograph is mandatory for getting admitted to the test centre. College Board SAT Program can be contacted by e-mail, phone or mail. The contact information is at http://sat.collegeboard.org/contact. Complete SAT tests registration guidelines are at http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/sat/sat-paper-registration-guide.pdf. A SAT candidate must go through this link and understand the instructions before registering for the exam.

Bulk Registration:

It is also possible for an educational institution to perform bulk SAT tests registration on behalf of its students. Bulk registration procedures and various issues with respect to group registration are described at http://professionals.collegeboard.com/testing/sat-reasoning/register/bulk.

Special Cases:

SAT test dates and registration details for special circumstances are available in detail at http://sat.collegeboard.org/register/special-circumstances. For information on test cancellations and changing the test date, centre or test type, visit http://professionals.collegeboard.com/testing/sat-reasoning/register/change.

Standby Registration:

Students of age less than 21 years, who missed to register by the late SAT tests registration deadline, can still take the exam provided there are staff, test material and space available on the test day. The standby testing is not offered in countries such as Benin, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Korea, Nigeria, Thailand, Togo and Vietnam.

As stated in this article, students are advised to go through the official SAT website to know complete information on SAT registration and also to visit http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/sat/sat-paper-registration-guide.pdf for the registration guidelines. It is better to go ahead with the SAT tests registration once the candidates equip themselves with the complete registration procedures.
