Guidelines for SAT Test Sign Up:

College Board has consolidated all the SAT test sign up guidelines in a document which is available at http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/sat/sat-paper-registration-guide.pdf. Going through this link is the foremost task for a SAT candidate who is about to sign up for the exam. In this section, we will discuss the key points with respect to SAT test registration.

At http://sat.collegeboard.org/register, students are given an option to login. First time users should create an official College Board student account via this link. Creating an account is a simple process which requires just providing the candidate’s name, email id, date of birth etc and then the user name and password. SAT test sign up can be done through mail, phone or online. A government-issued ID card or a valid passport with recent photograph is mandatory for getting admitted to the test centre.

  • Online Registration:

Before signing up, students need to decide on what SAT test centres are available and what centres come under their preference. Therefore, the candidates should perform a code search at http://sat.collegeboard.org/register/sat-code-search to know where the SAT would be held. To get the list of SAT test places, choose the ‘Search by’ dropdown as ‘Test Centers’. The details to be entered next are: Test date, Country, State and City (optional). The search will now result in the list of SAT test places along with their respective codes, according to the search criteria. The subsequent SAT test sign up procedures are very simple. During the SAT registration process, the candidate is notified with an instant confirmation on the test centre availability. The admission ticket is provided online along with provisions for making corrections and reprinting.

  • Mail Registration:

SAT test sign up through mail is apt for paper registrants not having an email id or those willing to receive paper admission tickets. College Board will send their admission tickets via mail and the payment is to be made by cheque or money order. Paper registration is essential under the following circumstances also:

    • Candidate is below 13 years
    • Sunday testing requested for first time
    • Requesting to open a nearby test centre
    • The chosen test centre is one among Benin, Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria and Togo
    • SAT test sign up done through an SAT representative (Required in Kenya)

  • Phone Registration:

Those willing to retake the test can register through phone. Phone registration is possible only for candidates who have a previous registration in the system.

The contact information for College Board is at http://sat.collegeboard.org/contact. The College Board SAT Program can be contacted by e-mail, phone or mail, in case of queries.
