SAT is conducted seven times every year in the US from October to June. Other countries also follow the same dates as the US for the exam except for March (or April). There are centers for Sat testing across the US and SAT is also administered in international centers to facilitate the needs of students out of US. The registration has to be done at least 3 weeks in advance. It can be done in 3 ways.
- Online registration can be done for SAT at anytime of the day from most of the countries. It can be done with a credit card (Discover, Visa, American Express or Master Card are accepted) and the registration is confirmed immediately. The students also choose the dates and center for the exam online.
- Registration can be done through mails also and can be done with credit cards, or cheque's or money orders. The forms for SAT can be obtained from the official web site of SAT or school authorities.
- Thirdly, registration can be done through international representatives who can help the students in case they are not residing in US.
Like for any other test, the best way to prepare for the SAT test is by looking for the sample questions and practicing them. It is a lot easier to prepare the test if you know what is expected out of the SAT test. You can choose from the various ways of preparing for SAT.
There are coaching centers which offer personal attention to the students and thus are very accessible. They offer classroom coaching as well as online coaching. The coaching centers also provide 24 hours online help and live sessions exclusively for SAT.
Apart from them, a lot of web sites can be accessed where students can find vast subject matter. Some web sites also offer free information, tips and softwares.
Also a lot of study material for SAT is available in the market in the form of books and software. This could facilitate self study, but one must have the right planning to start with. So it is important to plan when to take the test and accordingly when and how to prepare.
It will be a great help if the student is able to identify his shortcomings and weaknesses and give more attention to it while preparing. Also while preparing, one must understand the right way to approach the test. For example, since it is a time bound test like any other test, one must attempt simpler questions first of all. Or use the elimination method in order to locate the right answer, in case of confusion in multiple type questions. By elimination method we mean that you should eliminate the wrong choices one by one by using logic and try to arrive at the correct answer. One has to learn how to manage the time given for the test well, so that the test can be completed in the given time. One can attempt the previously conducted tests or mock tests of SAT to judge their capability. This will also give an idea to the students about how the real test is going to be.
Getting all the information, going through the reference material and with proper planning, no exam remains new for the student, rather it becomes something familiar. With a good back up of strong preparation, planning and confidence, any exam is easy to handle.
