PSAT Dates in 2012 and the Related Deadlines

PSAT is administered twice a year, every year. It is usually administered in the month of October. The PSAT is administered on the third Saturday of the October month and on the Wednesday that precedes this Saturday. The PSAT for the year 2011 has already been administered. The students who took the PSAT 2011 are awaiting results which will be available by early December of 2011. PSAT 2012 Dates

PSAT dates for the year 2012 have been released by the College Board. The PSAT will be administered on the following dates in the year 2012.

  • October 17, 2012, Wednesday
  • October 20, 2012, Saturday

On any one of the PSAT date 2012, youcan take thePSAT.

Where Is PSAT Administered?

PSAT, unlike SAT, is offered by the high schools which are College Board members. You cannot register for the PSAT online. You can register for the PSAT by approaching a high school that administers PSAT on any one of the above mentioned PSAT date 2012 in your local community. Observe that a high school will be allowed to administer the test on only one PSAT date 2012 of the mentioned test dates. So, you must first select the PSAT date 2012 on which you wish to take the test and then approach a high school on your locale that administers the test on the PSAT date 2012 of your choice.

For the scholarship competition entrants who have cleared the PSAT 2011, the scholarship process ends in 2012 and scholarships will be awarded in the year 2012. So, there are many important PSAT dates and deadlines in the year 2012 in relation to the PSAT that is administered in the year 2011. The next PSAT date 2012 is February 24, 2012 which is the extended deadline for ordering PSAT/NMSQT Optional Score Reports. By the time of early February 2012, all the principals will be notified about the finalists of the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Competition. After this, in February 2012, the State Summary Reports for both the college-bound juniors and the seniors will be made available online. From March through May 2012, all the principals and the 2012 National Merit Scholarship recipients will be mailed about the same. The PSAT date March 1, 2012, is the deadline for the students who missed the 2012 Merit program to request the information about alternate entry route to the 2013 National Merit Program.

When Should You Apply for PSAT 2012?

It is advised that you start your application process for the PSAT 2012 by the month of March 2012. This is because you may miss out some services provided by the College Board if you start later. College Board provides the students with some services like fee waiver service and exception to scheduled test dates. Hence, for you to avail these services, you must start your application process a bit early. If you wish to avail the fee waiver service, you must apply before June 15 from the PSAT coordinator site.
