Information about the Test

There are two formats of the test available and these are the paper-based format and the computer-based format. The computer-based test is available seven times in a year and the paper-based test is available five times in a year.

There are two types of questions administered and they are the multiple-choice type and the performance-assignment type. In the Basic Skills Test there are 85 multiple-choice questions and one performance-assignment type question. In case of the subject tests, only multiple-choice questions are administered except the world language subject in which both the question types are administered.

The time duration of one session of the test is 4&1/2 hours and you can take up the entire Basic Skills Test in one session. If you opt to take up one or two of the subtests of the Basic Skills Test, the time allotted is 1&1/2 and 3 hours respectively. In case of the subject-area tests, some of them are for the entire session while some are for 2&1/2 hours.
The range of the scaled scores of the MTTC exam is 100 to 300 and the minimum you must score to pass it is 220. You can pass the individual subtests of the Basic Skills Test separately but you must pass the entire test to gain the Basic Skills Test credential.
