Registering for the MCAT Exam

Here is some useful information about the registration of MCAT! You have to register online for this exam from https://services.aamc.org/20/mcat . Before registering for the exam you should find out the policies of the medical school of your choice regarding applications for admissions and exam scores. You may have to choose a test date accordingly. You can take this exam up to 3 times in a year; however, you can opt only for one test date at the time of registering for the exam. When you register for the exam you will have to affirm your plans of joining a medical school by accepting a statement presented to you for the same or else you will need special permission to register for the exam.

The MCAT exam’s conducting authority, AAMC plans the test dates in such a way that the scores reach most of the medical schools before the deadlines for applications for admissions to be submitted. The test centers have limited capacity and the registrations are processed on a first come first served basis, so you should make an endeavor to register at the earliest.

You will have to register for the exam by paying late fee if you register less than 14 days before the test date. Another disadvantage of registering for the exam in the late period is that you will not be able to request for fee concessions and special permissions. The web site for online registration at https://services.aamc.org/20/mcat is functional about 3 months before each test date.

MCAT Exam Scores

Four separate scores are reported for each of the four sections of the MCAT exam. The scores of the multiple choice sections range from 1 to 15. The scores of the Writing Sample section range from 1 to 6, which are eventually converted into an alphabetic range. Your scores will generally be released within 30 days from the date when you take the exam.
