IELTS TESTING
IELTS is the abbreviation for International English Language Testing System. IELTS testing is mainly required for those students who want to study in British, Australian, New Zealand or Canadian universities or colleges. Score of IELTS testing is also accepted as proof of English proficiency by many American universities or colleges. Good score in IELTS testing is the minimum standard required to assess the English language abilities of candidates who want to study or work in the above mentioned countries where the only medium of communication is English language. IELTS Testing is mandatory for those students who wish to take admission in universities of UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and USA. IELTS testing is growing in its reputation as a good means of testing the candidates by maintaining its standard in integrity, research and innovation. The IELTS testing has now upgraded to a computer based test at few test centers but only for academic modules. The aim to keep improving the IELTS testing procedure is the reason that this test method is being recognized and accepted as the benchmark for admissions and immigrations to the above mentioned countries. IELTS testing test centers are available in more than 120 countries with more than 300 IELTS testing centers across the world and these numbers are growing at steady rate. Besides the academic institutions the IELTS testing is used by the immigration offices of these countries to test the proficiency of English language of the candidates who wish to work as professionals especially in hospitality industry like hospitals, hotels etc. The IELTS testing helps the immigration officials to judge the credentials of a person to speak and convey in English language which is the medium of interaction in these countries.
IELTS testing was started in 1989 and since then has come leaps and bounds in maintaining its credentials as a genuine mode of testing the English skills of a person. The IELTS testing is an overall test which tests the ability of a person in all spheres of the English language i.e. reading, writing, speaking and listening. It is unlike many other tests which test only the reading and writing capabilities of a person. Secondly this test is broadly divided into two formats to judge a persons capabilities according to the job a person wants to pursue in that country. The format is different for a student who wants to study and a professional who wants to work. Thus, the test is as per the skills required in the area of interest.
IELTS Testing Format
The test consists of four different sections. These sections are reading, writing, listening and speaking. However, there are two different formats in IELTS testing as per area of interest of the candidate.
- Academic IELTS testing
- General Training IELTS testing
You can choose modules according to your requirements in IELTS testing. It depends whether you are taking IELTS testing for further studies in colleges and universities of different countries or for a job overseas. The IELTS testing for both the formats have same listening and speaking sections but different reading and writing sections as part of the test.
IELTS Testing in Academic Module
For students who desire to take admission in undergraduate courses or post graduate courses in the countries where IELTS is recognized, it is mandatory for them to go through the process of IELTS testing in academic module. Academic IELTS testing tests that whether you are comfortable with the complex academic English language skills.
You will be given forty minutes for writing in academic module of IELTS testing. Question in IELTS testing is in the form of statement and your task will be create a logical argument about the given statement. You have to write at least two hundred and fifty words for the given statement. Academic IELTS testing in writing section tests your grammar and spellings therefore you have to be very careful while writing. This section of IELTS testing will evaluates your thing strategy so support your views with valuable logical explanation.
IELTS Testing in General Training Module
IELTS testing in general training module is intended for those who are planning to undertake non-academic training/work or for those who are planning to immigrate to these countries. IELTS testing in general training is to test how good the candidate is with the basics of English language which is the only medium of instruction or interaction in these institutes.
