ASVAB Online Test or CAT ASVAB

CAT-ASVAB is nothing but the computerized version of the test. The online version of the test provides candidates with more flexibility, when it comes to the starting time of the test. Before you register for the test, you will first have to contact a military recruiter. For each question, there will be four answer options and you need to choose one that you think is the right answer. Taking the examination online is important because the score you obtain will help you understand, whether or not you are eligible to join the U.S. Armed Forces. Here are some of the facts about the CAT-ASVAB that you should know about:

  • It is possible for you to move at your own pace all through the test, but do remember that there is a time limit within which you will have to finish all the subtests.

  • The score of the online test is calculated using the same formula as the pen and paper version. This means that both these scores have the same meaning. The computer-based format of the test is neither easier nor more difficult than the pen and paper version.

  • The online system will automatically calculate and print a test report for each and every test taker. This report will include the Standard Score for each of the subtests, the AFQT score and the Composite score. You will be able to obtain the result immediately when you take the online test.

  • As scoring is done automatically by the system, errors at the time of scoring are reduced to a great extent.

  • The online version of the test takes less time than the pen and paper version.

  • It is not possible for you to return to the previous questions when you choose the online test. So make sure that you are confident about the answer option that you have chosen.

  • It is not possible for you to skip those questions that you do not know the answers to. You will have to pick an answer, even if you are not sure about it, before you can proceed to the next question.

  • If you choose incorrect answers, the system will give you easier questions but this will reduce your score as compared to the situation wherein you answer difficult questions.
